OUR HERITAGE

A legacy of silk, carried forward since 1972.

Born in Bangalore. Built on trust. Reimagined for a new generation.

Born in Bangalore. Built on Trust.

Deepam Silks was founded in 1972 by M. Chandrashekar and family, carrying forward generations of expertise in silk weaving and craftsmanship. What began as a modest 400 sq. ft. store on Commercial Street soon became known across Bangalore for authentic silks, exceptional colour selections, and unmatched quality.

In the early years, customers across the city would visit Deepam looking for the perfect saree, whether it was a timeless Kanjivaram, a vibrant cotton weave, or the exact shade they had been searching for. Deepam quickly became known not just for silk, but for trust, curation, and craftsmanship.

In 1981, Deepam moved to MG Road, a turning point that transformed the brand into one of Bangalore’s most iconic silk destinations. Over the decades, the brand expanded while staying rooted in the values it was built on, authenticity, quality, relationships, and service.

Today, Deepam Silks serves customers across India and around the world, continuing to preserve the artistry of Indian weaving while evolving with modern elegance and timeless craftsmanship.

What makes Deepam different?

Curated with discernment. Chosen to endure.

Every saree at Deepam is selected for the qualities that make it exceptional: the integrity of its weave, the richness of its zari, the harmony of its colour and the grace of its drape. For decades, we have worked closely with skilled weaving communities across Kanchipuram, Banaras, Salem, Arani, Coimbatore and beyond to bring together pieces of lasting beauty—many created exclusively for Deepam.

Our promise has remained unchanged for more than fifty years: uncompromising quality, meaningful craftsmanship and service rooted in care.

The Deepam experience

Relationships woven across generations.

At Deepam, every customer is welcomed with warmth, patience and personal attention. Families return across generations for weddings, celebrations and milestones—not only for the sarees they choose, but for the experience they remember. Because to us, silk is never simply fabric. It carries memory, identity and the emotion of life’s most meaningful moments.
